APG 1.0.8 released

It's been far too long, but I've been very busy with work. I hope I'll finally be able to spend more time on APG again.

APG 1.0.8 is out now, the biggest changes are HPK key server support and app2sd support. Neither very tested. Key server support definitely needs some polishing, but it is a start that hopefully is useful already.

I'm also happy that I could add two translation contributions: Norwegian and Chinese. Awesome. :)

APG 1.0.7 released

1.0.6 breaks clear sign signature generation of data that doesn't end with a newline. Since that's something many users will run into I gave this fix an immediate release. This release also offers more options for the pass phrase cache time to live.

APG 1.0.6 released and K9 integration on the market

Another APG release... finally. Was busy with work and K9 mostly, so not that many changes. The Froyo crash is fixed finally, and APG now deletes files securely. There also were some bugfixes and interface adjustments.

Another great bit of news is that the latest K9 release (3.0) has APG integration! So emails finally can be signed/encrypted/verified/decrypted directly from within the Email app.

K9/APG Post on the Guardian Project

Yesterday's The Daily Show episode saddened me. To see Jon Stewart, of all people, say something like "The more you delve into science, the more it appears to rely on faith." is heart-breaking.

I'm not even that fussed about the details he confused (antimatter, dark-matter, Google has enough about that), that's not his area of expertise. But to claim science employs the same or a similar argument as religion, in asserting "something is there, we can't really prove it, but trust us...", that's just outrageous.

There are loads of blog posts about this already, also a lot of feedback was left on the TDS website. I hope some of that will be noticed by Stewart and his team and maybe he'll reconsider those statements.

APG 1.0.5 released

Some bugfixes, adjustments, most exciting news are the German and Italian translation, the new preferences look (and handling), and a MUCH smaller package, due to reduced Bouncy Castle sources.

This release also will need the K9 APG beta build 2900, and I'll now start some abstraction on K9 side and hopefully get some PGP/MIME working.

Also got a new icon, after multiple people commented on the boring black square, it's now just the key with a slight black edge and transparent background. Better for now, tho we might find something even better someday. :)

APG 1.0.4 released

Not really worth a post, but 1.0.3 fixes some crashes I stupidly introduced in 1.0.2. I hope not too many were affected by them.

And then 1.0.4 right away fixed a bug with Android's query builder, which only affects some devices.

APG 1.0.2 released and new K9 beta build

Biggest news are searchable key lists, smarter encryption key preselection based on signature key and email addresses, and a new Activity to handle all VIEW/SEND Intents from outside to delegate them to the right APG Activity based on content. This still requires more work, but already works quite well.

The new K9 build will be required, as 1.0.2 breaks compatibility with the first one.

APG 1.0.1 released

Just a tiny bugfix. The GMail account listing was broken in 1.0.0, and that probably was a problem for many users, hence the quick release.

APG 1.0.0 released

Finally 1.0.0 is out, it has a shiny new database, I hope the transition is smooth. A k9mail beta build can be downloaded on k9mail's or APG's Google Code site, which provides basic APG integration, which already can be used to do pretty much everything with inline encrypted/signed PGP emails.

Other changes include the beginning of internationalization with Slovenian and support for other file managers, namely ASTRO, which was requested by many.
